Beach trippin'
We picked up Jay and Piper this morning and drove to Constance Bay for a day at the beach. It was sunny and just hot enough. We brought a picnic (veggies, shrimp, brownies and cheese) and set up your peapod tent on our blanket in the shade of the red stroller.
After a snack we all hit the water. Except that none of us remembered a bathing suit! Babies don't have a lot of social pressure to follow norms but it was sunny so I kept your onesie and diaper on. (Piper stripped down to undies with a floppy sweater on top!) After holding you in my arms to dip your little toes and letting you reach out to feel the water with both hands, I sat you cross legged on the sand at the water's edge, amidst pebbles and beat-up mussel shells, where the water is shallow and warmed by the sun. You were in your element. I showed you handfuls of wet sand, which you shoved into your mouth without hesitation.
After the beach fun, Jay drove us slowly around the area and rattled off stories about the area. He had dated a girl who lived in this house, and the people across the road moved there after his family did. Here, he had fallen off his bicycle. He had tended bar at the legion (there really was a legion).
Closer to Kanata we stopped at a sign for a Thai Buddhist centre and decided to check it out.
A pack of turkeys darted, shoving and squawking, through the forest and amidst the garden flowers. And that's how we said farewell to August. ðŸ˜
